2005–06 DFB-Pokal

DFB Cup winner in 2006 was the FC Bayern Munich. In the final at the Olympiastadion Berlin, Bayern were able to defend the title on 29 April 2006 with a 1-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt. Despite this defeat, Frankfurt was able to participate in the UEFA Cup in the 2006/2007 season, as the Munich had already qualified for the Champions League. Frankfurt but failed as a group Last in the group stage.

In addition to the Bundesliga from Munich, Frankfurt and Bielefeld reached with the Hamburg champions FC St. Pauli, a club from the third-tier Regionalliga Nord the semifinals. The Millertor Club switched it with Hertha BSC and Werder Bremen from two first division. Against the Berlin succeeded St. Pauli in the second round the feat several times to catch a residue ( 0-2 in the regular season, 2-3 in the extension ). The winning goal scored to 4:3 Robert Palikuca in the 109th minute.
