2005–06 EHF Champions League

At the EHF Champions League 2005 /06 participated in 39 handball club teams, who had in the previous season in their home leagues qualify for the competition. It was the 46th staging of the EHF Champions League and the European Cup of Champions. The Cup Finals began on 3 September 2005, the second final match took place on 30 April 2006. Defending champion was the Spanish club FC Barcelona. The final between SDC San Antonio and BM Ciudad Real Ciudad Real BM could decide for themselves.

Mode

Qualification: The qualification was played in a knockout system with return game. The winner of each game moved into the group stage. The outgoing team moved into the second round of the EHF Cup 05/ 06.

Group Stage: There were eight groups of four teams. In a group, everyone plays against everyone a return match; the two best group reached the knockout stages. The respective third party group moved into the second round of the EHF European Cup, a Cup Winners' Cup 2005/ 06.

Second round: The second round was played in a knockout system with return game. The winner of each game moved into the quarter-finals.

Quarterfinals: The quarter-final was played in a knockout system with return game. The winner of each game moved into the semi-finals.

Semi-finals: The semi-final was played in a knockout system with return game. The winner of each game moved into the final.

Final: The final was played in a knockout system with return game. The winner of the game was the winner of the EHF Champions League season 2005/06.

The qualifying draw took place at 11:00 clock (UTC 2) in Vienna on 26 June 2005. It took the 14 teams who had previously qualified for the competition, in part. The first legs took place on 3./4./9. Of September 2005. The second legs were held on 9./10./11. Of September 2005.

The draw for the group stage was held at 11:00 clock (UTC 2) in Vienna on 28 July 2005. It took the seven winners of the qualification and the 25 teams who had previously qualified for the competition, in part.
