2005–06 Scottish Cup

The Scottish FA Cup has been played 121 times for 2005/ 06. The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was officially discharged as Tennent's Scottish Cup and chaired by the Scottish Football Association, began on 19 November 2005 and ended with the final on 13 May 2006 at Glasgow's Hampden Park. Defending champion Celtic Glasgow, who was able to put in last year's final against Dundee United, already retired early in the third round against FC Clyde from the competition. This year's title was won for 7 times in the club's history Heart of Midlothian by a final victory on penalties over the third division side FC Gretna. Since the Hearts could qualify as runners-up for the Champions League, Gretna played in the UEFA Cup the following season 2006/ 07 in this competition, left there, however, early in the second qualifying round tie against Irish club Derry City from. In August 2008, the Gretna FC was dissolved.
