2005–06 Vysshaya Liga season

The 2005/06 season the Wysschaja League was the 14th season of the second highest Russian hockey league.

Mode

The 28 teams in the league Wysschaja were divided into two conferences before the season according to regional criteria. Had the Western Conference with 15 teams of two participants over the Eastern Conference with 13 teams. First, each team played four games against each opponent within their own conference, so the number of matches per team in the Western Conference and 56 in the Eastern Conference was 48.

The top eight teams from each conference qualified for the playoffs then, in which the second division champion was pitted and ascended the finalists, and the winner in the match for third place in the Super League. The two Kazakh participants were excluded from the playoffs, so that could move up two Russian teams. For a win within regular time each team received three points with a victory after extra two points, a draw and one defeat after extra time there was a point and a defeat after regular time zero points.
