2005 Ford World Men's Curling Championship
The Curling World Championships 2005 was the first since 1988, when the tournaments of men and women were again held spatially and temporally separated. It was also the first in which the Page playoff system was used.
The men's tournament ( officially called 2005 Ford World Men 's Curling Championship ) was held from 2 to 10 April 2005 at the newly constructed Save -on- Foods Memorial Centre in the Canadian city of Victoria instead. The women wore their tournament from 19 to 27 March at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in the Scottish town of Paisley from.
The women's tournament ( officially 2005 World Women's Curling Championship called ) was overshadowed from the start of numerous problems. The quality of the ice was due to several factors not the best. For spraying the ice was not used usual demineralized water as usual at major tournaments because the organizers had refused to pay the costs. The fourth round of the Round Robin then had to be moved. Even the spectators deployment due to sharply increased admission prices was modest. In addition, the volunteers to operate the watches because they wanted to be paid refused. For this reason, the arbitrators were entitled to remove at slow pieces. This cost the Russian team demonstrated at least one win in the first round.
