2005 GP2 Series season

The GP2 Series 2005 season was the first season of the GP2 Series. It began on April 23, 2005 in Imola, San Marino and ended on 24 September 2005 in as- Sachir, Bahrain.

2005 was the first season of the GP2 Series, which replaced the International Formula 3000 championship. Two former Formula 1 driver could be found on the grid: Gianmaria Bruni drove for Coloni Motorsport and Giorgio Pantano for Super Nova Racing. The champion of the driver Nico Rosberg won, whose team ART Grand Prix won the team title.

The GP2 Series 2005 season consisted of twelve race weekends. On each track two races were run. The only exception was Monte Carlo, where only one race took place. The first eight of the first race run that started in the second race in reverse order.

Points system

In the main race (HAU ) were the first eight of the race, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point (s). During the sprint race (SPR ), the first six of the race were 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point (s). In addition, the winner of qualifying, who started from pole position in the feature race, two points received. The driver, who scored the fastest lap of the race, also received a point.
