2005 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships

The 29th Ice Hockey World Championships U20 juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships were in 2005 in the age group of under- twenties ( U20). In total, between 13 December 2004, and January 16, 2005 40 teams in the six tournaments in the top division and the divisions I to III part.

The world champion was the eleventh time the team of Canada that could defeat the final arch rivals Russia 6-1. Top Division

The U-20 World Championship was held from 25 December 2004 to 4 January 2005 in the U.S. cities in the state of North Dakota Grand Forks and Thief River Falls, Minnesota. It was played in the Ralph Engelstad Arena (Grand Forks Engelstad; 11,640 seats) in Grand Forks and the Ralph Engelstad Arena ( Thief River Falls Engelstad ) in Thief River Falls with 2,569 seats.

At the tournament was attended ten national teams who played in two groups of five teams. The world champion secured Canada, which clearly won 6-1 against Russia in the final. It was the eleventh overall title for Canadians.

Mode

After the group matches of the preliminary round, the two group winners qualify directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and third - ever deny a qualifier for the semi-finals.
