2006–07 FA Cup

The FA Cup 2006/ 07 was the 126th edition of the oldest football competition, the FA Cup.

With 687 teams that participated in the first qualifying round in August 2006, a record was set. The finale was held at the new Wembley Stadium on 19 May 2007. The victory was endowed with £ 1 million. Winner of this discharge was Chelsea.

Complete overview in FA Cup

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Can participate, each team that has a given level of performance and has an adequate pitch. Is usually played only one game. When draw a replay will take place. The repeat game also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time and, where appropriate, to penalties. This mode goes up to the sixth main round (equivalent to the quarter-finals ). From the semi-finals, there is only a game, possibly with extra time and penalties.

Some teams were released from certain rounds:

  • In the second qualifying round, the teams of the Conference North / South (6th flight of English league operation ) were added.
  • In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the Conference National ( fifth flight of English league operation ) were added.
  • In the first round the teams in the League One and Two of the Football League ( 3rd and 4th flight of the English league operation ) were added.
  • In the third main round on the first weekend of January, the teams in the Football League Championship ( second division of the English league operation ) and Premier League ( first division of the English league operation ) were added.

The semi-finals took place on neutral ground, the final at Wembley Stadium.

Each winner received a prize from the television money, which was graded according to rounds.
