2006–07 Serie A (ice hockey) season

The 2006/07 season of the Italian Ice Hockey Championship Series A1 was discharged with a total of nine teams. Defending HCJ Milano Vipers was the, which, however, no longer participated in the Serie A1 league and voluntarily withdrew in the A2 series. New champion was the SG Cortina.

Participating teams

The runner-up of Series A2, the SG Pontebba, moved before the season in the first Italian league.

Mode

In contrast to last season was played in this only a double instead of a triple round-trip round. After this the division of the field followed in two groups: The first four came into the circle A, the other five in the group B.

After this qualifying round, the first two teams of Group A were qualified for the semifinals, while the other two in the quarterfinals met the two winners of the circle B. All matches in the play-offs, including the semi-finals and finals were played in best- of-five - mode.

The number of allowable transfer card players had changed this season: Each club was allowed nine under contract, but use them in a game only seven. Players who were younger than 23 years, could also be used by the farm team in the Serie A1 and A2. Players over the age of 23 were not allowed to be brought back, however, after a successful exchange.

The first round was held on 3 October 2006 to 2 December 2006, 16 game days.

Circle A

Play-off

Quarterfinals

The quarter-finals were played between the last two of circle A and the first two of the circle B. It was played in the mode best-of -five. Home advantage in the first game had the team out of the circle A.

The clubs HC Alleghe and HCJ Milano Vipers reached the semi-finals. The HC Bolzano and the HC Val Pusteria dropped out.

Semifinal

The two semi-finals were played between the first two of the circle A and the winners of the quarter-finals. Played in turn was the Best -of -Five mode.

Final

The final was played between the two teams that had won the two semi-finals. Home advantage in the first game had the team after the regular season had the better place in the table. Played in turn was the Best -of -Five mode.

Statistics

Michael Harder from HC Alleghe with 86 points scorer ( 24 goals and 62 assists) received the award as top scorer of the season. In second place went to Kenny Corupe (SG Cortina ) with 83 points ( 35 goals and 48 assists); at the Third Mike Souza ( Cortina ) with 73 points ( 30 goals and 43 assists). There follow Niklas Eriksson (HC Val Pusteria ) with 67 points ( 13 goals and 54 assists) and Mike Omicioli (HC Bolzano ) with 63 points ( 12 goals and 51 assists).
