2006 Major League Soccer season
The 11th Major League season in Major League Soccer began the regular season on April 1, 2006 and ended with the MLS Cup 2006 on November 12, 2006 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco (Texas ). Winner of the MLS Cup was the Houston Dynamo, who played their first season in the MLS.
Changes from the 2005 season
- The MetroStars from New York City were bought by the Austrian company Red Bull and refounded as New York Red Bulls.
- The San Jose Earthquakes moved to financial problems in San Jose (California ) over to Houston. The new team is called Houston Dynamo.
