2006 Paris–Nice

The 64th Paris-Nice cycling race took place from 5 to 12 March 2006. It was held in a prologue and seven stages over a distance of 1276.3 kilometers. In addition to the 20 participating ProTour teams the team Agritubel received a wildcard.

The discharged in the Paris suburb of Issy -les -Moulineaux prologue was won by last year's winner Bobby Julich. He was thus the first yellow jersey of the overall leader in the Paris- Nice 2006. However, this jersey he lost already on the following day to the acting cycling world champion Tom Boonen, the fifth winner of the prologue and the following two stages. The preliminary decision in the standings this tour succeeded Floyd Landis, who at the Col de la Croix was able to sell a few kilometers from the finish in Saint- Étienne from his pursuers along with Francisco Vila. Floyd Landis was at this stage second behind the stage winner Francisco Vila and took over the yellow jersey, which he was able to Nice, the end of the tour, defend. The competition was won by points after leaving the sprinter Tom Boonen ( Stage 7 ) and Allan Davis ( Stage 5 ) Samuel Sanchez. Best climber was David Moncoutié, who took over the leadership of this rating only at the final stage of Christophe Laurent.
