Roger Federer was able to successfully defend his title, won in the women's Maria Sharapova, the defending champion Kim Clijsters could not compete. In the men's doubles win Martin Damm and Leander Paes won in women's doubles Nathalie Dechy and Vera Swonarjowa. In mixed Martina Navratilova and Bob Bryan were able to prevail, Martina Navratilova ended her active career here.

In the junior Dusan Lojda won the item, the seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 1 was able to prevail against Tamira Paszek in the Junior Women. The double Junior won Jamie Hunt and Nathaniel Schnugg, the double of the juniors won Mihaela Raluca Olaru and Buzarnescu.

In the wheelchair competition won against Michael Jeremiasz in three sets in the men's singles Robin Ammerlaan, in women's singles Esther Vergeer in two sets against Sharon Walraven. The men's doubles won Ammerlaan Robin and Michael Jeremiasz in two sets against Shingo Kunieda and Tadeusz Kruszelnicki, the women's doubles Esther Vergeer won and Jiske Griffioen in two sets against Korie Homan and Maaike Smit.

Single Junior

In the final, Peter Polansky and Dušan Lojda stood against. Polansky had in the semifinal of the American talent Donald Young defeated Lojda the Croatians Luka Belić. Lojda secured the victory in straight sets.

The more time Canadian junior champion Polansky, who was sidelined for several months after an injury in April of the year was moved only by an exception in the main draw of the U.S. Open. On the way to the final he beat, among others, the top-seeded Slovakian Martin Klizan.

The Czech Lojda came as European vice-champion of the junior to the U.S. Open. There he was during the whole tournament from a single sentence. The 18- year-old won the U.S. Open title for the first time.

Single junior

In the final, the seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and one Russian Tamira Paszek faced each from Austria. Pavlyuchenkova defeated the number eleven of the seedings in three sets.

Double Junior

In an all- American final, Jamie Hunt and Nathaniel Schnugg could smooth enforce 6:3 and 6:3 against the tournament gerückten with a wildcard Jarmere Jenkins and Austin Krajicek. The top-seeded Roman Jebavý (Czech Republic ) and Martin Klizan had failed in the first round.

Double Junior Women

The double of the juniors won the top seed Sharon Fichman pair (Canada) / Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) in three sets against the American Chelsey Gullickson and Jamie Hampton.
