2006 World Championship of Ski Mountaineering
The III. World Cup ski mountaineering 2006 ( Italian Campionato del Mondo di scialpinismo 2006) was from 27 February to 4 March 2006 in the province of Cuneo, Italy discharged. It was organized by the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions ( ICSM ) of the Union Internationale des Associations d' Alpinisme ( UIAA ). Participated ski mountaineers have the national squad from a total of 33 nations.

Expiration
First competition after previous briefings on February 27 for the World Cup event was on February 28, the vertical race. One day it took place on 1 March, the team race held in teams of two. The single race for the age group of " seniors " was scheduled for March 3 in Arte Sina, but was canceled due to the weather; the race of the " junior " the day before could be performed. Last contest was on March 4, 2006, the relay race of teams of four.

Vertical Race
The vertical race was the first competition discipline and was discharged on 28 February 2008 in Crissolo. The promotion race started at an altitude of 1365 meters above sea level. To cope up was a 4.7 km long route with a difference in altitude of 1000 meters.

Championship team race
The team races were held on 1 March 2006 in Crissolo. Was started at an altitude of 1725 meters. At the 20.3 km long track, the height difference was a total of 2088 m for each ascent and descent. The highest point of the route was placed at 3019 m.

Ski mountaineering single race ( failed)
In 2006, not a single race could be discharged due to the snow conditions; in consequence, there was no combined score in the III. World Cup. The individual race should result in a 17.1 km long track with a height difference for the ascent of 1740 meters and 1750 meters for the departure. The highest point on the planned route was at 2400 m altitude.
Relay race
The relay races were held on March 4 in Artesina. The relay teams consisted of four participants. The starting point of the 1.92 km long stretch was at an altitude of 1363 m. The rise was doing up to an altitude of 1503 m, followed by a descent height difference of 140 meters in altitude also.
