2006 World Junior Championships in Athletics

The 11th IAAF World Junior Championships took place from 15 to 20 August 2006 at Chaoyang Sports Centre in the Chinese capital Beijing. They are the global competition of the best athletes under 20.

The turnout was a record 1451 athletes ( from 180 countries ) participated in 44 competitions ( 22 each for men and for women ), with 69 nations reached the final battles and 44 nations won medals, 21 countries shared the victories.

To the German contingent of the DLV included 68 athletes and the U20/U23-Bundestrainer Dietmar Chounard. For Austria, two athletes were at the start and the Swiss Association of Athletics Federations sent eight athletes to Beijing, under the direction of Patrick book.

The orientation of the Athletics World Junior Championships in 2006 were for the organizers as a test for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, where the sports center also served as a venue. High Jump

The competition was previously the second-placed Chinese world best years with 1.92 m. However, this amount could not be confirmed in the World Cup.
