2006 World Series
The World Series 2006 was the 102nd edition of the Finals of the Major League Baseball. The series started on 21 October 2006 and ended on 27 October 2006. There stood the champion of the American League, the Detroit Tigers and the champion of the National League, the St. Louis Cardinals against. Winner of the " Best of Seven " series were the St. Louis Cardinals in just five games. The Cardinals won Games 1, 3, 4, and 5 The Detroit Tigers could decide only 2 game for themselves.
It was the third time that the Tigers and the Cardinals clashed in the World Series. In the first meeting in 1934 the Cardinals were able to win the Tigers in the second 1968. Both series went over the full seven games.
For the World Series MVP David Eckstein was chosen.
