2007–08 Primeira Liga
The season 2007/ 08 the Primeira Liga began on August 17, 2007 and ended on May 11, 2008. Promoted team from the Liga de Honra were Vitória Guimarães and Leixões SC.
This season, FC Porto, the 23 championship in club history and the third title already secured with five games left in the season in a row. Sporty increased FC Paços de Ferreira and União Leiria from the 2nd league. The judgments in the bribery scandal of the season 2003/ 04 had a direct influence on this season, so the FC Porto six points and União Leiria were deducted three points, the president of FC Porto, Pinto da Costa, was subject to a two -year suspension and Boavista Porto doomed to relegation to the Liga de Honra. FC Porto should not participate in the UEFA Champions League 2008 / 09 and move up as the nächstbestplatzierten clubs as well. This decision was, however, revised.
