2007–08 Swiss Cup

The 83 Swiss Cup ( 2003-2008 Swisscom Cup) was held from 15 September 2007 until 6 April 2008, FC Basel was able to defend the title against AC Bellinzona.

The mode

For the season 2007/ 08, the system was changed slightly. The 10 teams of the Axpo Super League and 17 clubs in the Challenge League were directly qualified for the Swisscom Cup ( was not eligible to play in the Challenge League, FC Vaduz, who participated in the Liechtenstein Cup). These 27 clubs met with 11 clubs from the 1st League and 26 clubs from the amateur league. This must qualify in regional qualifications for the Swisscom Cup.

It was played in the all-in - system. Each round took new place within a maximum of two days and was advanced by a few months because of the 2008 European Championship. Thus, the final was held in April instead held in May or June.

1/32-Finals ( 15 and 16 September 2007): 64 teams, the winners were qualified for the 1/16-Finals.

1/16-Finals ( 20 and 21 October 2007): 32 teams, the winners were qualified for the knockout round.

Last sixteen ( 24 and 25 November 2007): 16 teams, the winners were qualified for the quarter- finals.

Quarter-finals ( 15 and 16 December 2007): 8 teams, the winners were qualified for the semi-finals.

Semi-finals ( 27 and 28 February 2008): 4 teams, the winners qualified for the final.

Finale (6 April 2008): The winner won the Swiss Cup 83.

The final was not traditionally at the Stade de Suisse in Bern. At this time the turf at the Stade de Suisse was changed from art to nature to unsubscribe in June the European Championship 08 can.
