2007 Champions Youth Cup
In 2007, the Champions Youth Cup football tournament was held for the first time. It took part in the U-19 selections from 14 clubs from Europe and South America and of two Asian teams. The winner was the youth team of Manchester United.
Venues
The tournament was held in seven stages, divided into five cities in Malaysia. Most of the games were held in Kuala Lumpur, which houses three tournament sites.
Alor Setar: Darul Aman Stadium Built in 1967, home of Kedah Kedah FA and JK Rowling, has a capacity of 35,000 spectators.
Kuantan: The Darul Makmur Stadium is the home of the club Pahang FC. Built in 1995, it holds up to 40,000 people.
Malacca: The Hang Jebat Stadium can accommodate 40,000 spectators. The stadium of FC and Malacca Malacca Telekom Football Club was built in 2004.
Kuching: The Sarawak Stadium opened in 1997, can seat up to 40,000 people. It was built on an area of 300,000 m² in Petra Jaya.
Kuala Lumpur: In Kuala Lumpur even 3 different stages were used for the staging of the tournament:
- Some preliminaries will be in the 18,000 -seat KLFA City Stadium held. It is the home of Kuala Lumpur Malay Mail and Kuala Lumpur FA.
- In Shah Alam Stadium, which is the home of Selangor FA find 81,000 spectators. It was opened in 1994.
- The 100,000 people of Bukit Jalil National Stadium comprehensive built for the 1998 Commonwealth Games. The semi-finals were held there. Likewise, the final was played in this stadium.
