2007 Copa Libertadores
The Copa Libertadores 2007 due to the sponsorship of the automaker Toyota Toyota Libertadores Copa also was the 48th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. Like last year, 38 teams participated from the ten member associations CONMEBOL and from Mexico. The tournament began on 24 January with the qualifying round and ended on June 20 with the final second leg.

Mode
Case of a tie in the group stage on goal difference for the next round was decisive, then the number of goals scored, after which the away goals. If these are equal, decided in the group stage the lot, in the knockout rounds of penalty kicks. Only in the final followed, where appropriate, the score is level after return game before the penalty shoot another extension.

The date indicated refers in each case to the local time. Many games take place in the evening in South America, which corresponds to the early hours of the following day in Central Europe.

Second round
For the last sixteen qualified to the First and Second each group.
The games were not paired, but determined by a set list. At the eight group winners according to their ranking in the start numbers of the second-best group winners, the numbers were awarded 1 to 8, which is the best group winners received 1, 2, and so were the eight group runners- 9 to 16 in the second round then played 1-16, 2 - 15, 3 - 14 ... so the best group first against the worst runners etc.
From this came the following games. The first legs were played on 2 May 2007, the return matches on May 9, 2007. Respectively former team had home advantage, the other in the first leg in the second leg.
With the games in the second round and the further course of the knockout rounds was set up to the final time.
Quarterfinals
The first legs of the quarter-finals were played the return legs on 23 May 2007 on 15, 16 and 17 May 2007.
Semifinal
The first legs of the semi-finals were played the return game on June 6 on May 30, 2007. According to the original mode (winner S1 - S4 winner and winner S2 - Winners S3) of Santos FC would have had to compete against the Boca Juniors against Cúcuta and Grêmio. Since the CONMEBOL wanted to avoid that as in the previous two teams reach the finals of a country, the Santos FC was put into second place in the first semi-final.
