2007 DFL-Ligapokal
The DFL - League Cup in 2007 ( officially Premiere League Cup 2007) was the twelfth and final edition of the competition so far and started on July 21, 2007, the preliminaries in Dusseldorf. The finale was held on 28 July in Leipzig. Participants were with VfB Stuttgart, FC Schalke 04, Werder Bremen and FC Bayern Munich, the first four teams in the Final Table of the past Bundesliga season, the 1st FC Nuremberg as cup winners and the first time the master of the 2nd Bundesliga this year Karlsruher SC. Scorer was Franck Ribery of Bayern Munich with 3 hits.
Tournament
All teams stressed before the tournament, how insignificant is the title and that the games are considered only as preparation for the league. Schalke 04 had made after the narrow victory against Karlsruhe an improvement that had succeeded with the victory against Nuremberg. The DFB Cup winner showed weaknesses in the defense, which had formed the previous season still the core of the team. Bayern Munich won clearly in the preliminary round against Werder Bremen in the semifinals and defeated the champion Stuttgart. Thus, all three champions were eliminated in the first game. Consequently, the final run two teams that had already compete in the preliminary round. In the final, both teams played weak, which Bayern won 1-0.
