2007 FIBA Asia Championship
The basketball Asia Championship 2007 ( officially: FIBA Asia Championship 2007) was the 24th edition of this tournament and took place from July 28 to August 5, 2007 in Tokushima, Japan. It was organized by FIBA Asia, the Asian Basketball Federation. The best team (except China, which qualified automatically as host of the Olympic Games ) was awarded a place at the Olympic Games 2008.

Saudi Arabia withdrew his team and was replaced by Kuwait Kuwait. All games were played in two different gyms in Tokushima.
Preliminary round
In the preliminary round of four teams playing in four groups against each other. The winner of the match was awarded two points, the loser one point. The top two of each group reached the group stage. The third-placed play for places 9-12. The fourth-placed played for places 13-16.

After the preliminary round, the top two teams played in groups E and F for the places 1 to 8, the final two teams in the groups G and H for places 9 to 16 in the groups a simple round was played everyone against everyone.

The top two from Groups E and F played in KO system to place 1 to 4 The third and fourth placed from Groups E and F were playing in the knock-out system for the places 5 to 8 The winners of the groups G and H played at No. 9, the runner-up to 11th place, the third place to 13th place and the last of the groups G and H to 15th place

The team of Iran qualified for the Olympic Games in 2008. Lebanon and South Korea qualified for the Olympic qualifying tournament in Athens.
