Draft order

The draft order for the positions 1 to 14 was determined on 10 April 2007 by the Draft Lottery. The 14 teams that failed to qualify for the playoffs to take part in this weighted lottery and be set in reverse order of the table of the regular season. Here, the worst team last season was (Philadelphia Flyers) on the first place and had a 25% chance of winning the lottery and the best of 14 not qualified for the playoffs teams ( Colorado Avalanche ) came in 14th place and had a chance of 0.5%. The winner of the lottery proceeds to four places in the draft order.

The Chicago Blackhawks won the lottery and moved from her fifth place on the first position in the draft order on.

The draft sequence of the 16 playoff participants was made only after the Stanley Cup final. The Stanley Cup - winner was set to position 30, the final opponent at position 29. At position 27 and 28 failed in the Conference Finals teams were sorted. The remaining teams were to be set based on their table level in the regular season. The rule is that the team is in position 15 with the fewest points obtained. The draft order is valid for all seven rounds of the Entry Draft. Teams can be purchased via transfers draft picks from other teams, but have also issued their own to other teams. The Nashville Predators announced their first-round draft pick ( position 23 ) in a transfer business to the Philadelphia Flyers on, but got it back a few days before the draft in the course of further transfers. A few hours before the beginning of the Entry Draft, there was a relevant transfer the first round. The San Jose Sharks received a first-round draft pick ( position 13) and a second-round draft pick and a fourth- round draft pick for the NHL Entry Draft in 2009 by the Toronto Maple Leafs Vesa Toskala for goalkeeper and striker Mark Bell.
