2007 Pan American Games
The 15th Pan American Games were held in 2007 from July 13 to 29 in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. It was attended by some 5,600 athletes from 42 different countries competed in 34 sports against each other.
Choice of venue
On 24 August 2002, the choice fell on the PASO Rio de Janeiro. The only opponent was the Texan city of San Antonio. 30 of the 51 members elected the Brazilian city in a secret ballot.
Mascot
The mascot was a sun called Cauê.
