2008–09 Primeira Liga

The Primeira Liga 2008 /09 was the 71st season of the Portuguese top football men. It began on 22 August 2008 with a home game of the third-placed pre-season against Vitória Guimarães Vitória Setúbal (1:1) and ended on 24 May 2009 with the 30th and final day. New here were the Rio Ave FC and CD Trofense.

Portuguese champion for the fourth consecutive year, the FC Porto. There was a total of 24 championship titles for postage. Descent had CD Trofense, the descent into second-class after a season again, and CF Estrela Amadora. Estrela Amadora was prohibited due to financial problems, participation in professional football. Amadora had relegated in the II Divisão ( the third-highest league). Belenenses Lisbon was why, despite sporting descent, keeping the class.

Participant

Due to the manipulation scandal Apito Final, was involved in the Boavista Porto, Boavista had to accept a demotion. This meant that FC Paços de Ferreira despite sporting descent was allowed to remain in the first Portuguese football league.

This season will be played with the Adidas Euro Pass Portugal. The coloring in yellow color with red dots was inspired by the national flag of Portugal. With the Euro Pass Portugal Liga de Honra ( Liga Vitalis ) and in the League Cup ( Carlsberg Cup) is played in the Liga Sagres.
