The 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championships IAAF ( IAAF World Cross Country 36th officially Championships ) found on 30 March 2008 in Edinburgh (Scotland, UK ) instead.

Course

Event was held at Holyrood Park, in which a two- kilometer loop was created, in their shortened version of the climb to the Haggis Knowe (about 15 meters altitude) was omitted. The men coped with two small and four large laps (12 km), the women and juniors, two large and two small rounds ( 7.905 km ) and the junior one small and two large rounds.

Competitions

A total of $ 280,000 in prize money were exposed for adult competitions, one of which was attributable to the winner of each race $ 30,000 and each winning team $ 20,000. About 17,000 people had joined up for the race. The weather was cold, sometimes rainy and gusty.

Results

Individual classification

Of 165 reported 179 athletes took to the start and got 165 in the standings. A runner was disqualified on the spot, while the Algerians Fathi Meftah was disallowed for a doping offense subsequently the 35th place.

As the only participant from a German-speaking country in the Swiss Ueli chef came to the 133rd place ( 39:12 ).

Of 99 reported 95 athletes went to the start and reached the goal of 90.

As the only participant from a German speaking country, the German Susanne Hahn came on the 33rd place ( 27:09 ).
