2008 Tour Down Under

The 10th Tour Down Under was held from 22 to 27 January 2008. The bicycle race was held in six stages over a distance of 785 kilometers. It was the first race outside of Europe was part of the UCI ProTour. It was opened with the Down Under Classic, that did not count for the ProTour standings.

The driver Elia Rigotto was disqualified after he had brought with a head butt the Australian Matthew Hayman in the final sprint of the fourth stage to case. Hayman suffered a broken collarbone. It was the first time in the Tour that a driver has been taken out of the race.
