2009–10 CONCACAF Champions League

The CONCACAF Champions League in the season 2009/10 was the second edition of the competition.

The tournament began in late July 2009 with the qualification and ended with the final second leg match on April 28, 2010. The Mexican club CF Pachuca defeated in the final of his compatriots from CD Cruz Azul 1:2 and 1:0 on the away goals rule. For Pachuca this was the first success in the CONCACAF Champions League; the club is now qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup 2010.

1As Belize could produce no suitable stadium, Honduras received a third place as the best Central American country last year. 2 Costa Rica received a third place, as the stadium of the Nicaraguan club Real Estelí did not fulfill the conditions required by the CONCACAF. Originally, the starting place should go to Panama, the second best Central American country last year, but Panama had not itself a third suitable stadium. 3 The second- best team in the Salvadoran Championships after Apertura and Clausura winners AD Isidro Metapán, CD Chalatenango, the registration papers filed in due time, so that El Salvador's third-best team, Luis Ángel Firpo nachrückte.

  • The eight winners of the Preliminary Round.
  • Each 2 teams from the U.S. and Mexico.
  • Ever a team from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Preliminary Round ( qualifying round)

The pairings for the qualifying round were drawn on June 11, 2009. The first legs take place between the 28 and 30 July, the return matches between August 4 to 6 instead.

After the qualifying round, the winners of the various matches are assigned to the already seeded teams. It created four groups of four teams.

The quarter-final first legs took place from 9 to March 11, 2010; the return games were played from 16 to 18 March 2010. The semi-finals took place on 30 and 31 March and on April 6 and 7; the two finals on April 21 and 28.
