2009–10 EHF Women's Champions League

At the Champions League season 2009/10 participated in a total of 30 handball club teams that were in the previous season in their home countries qualify for the competition. 16 of them moved into the group stage. It was the 50th staging of the EHF Champions League and the European Cup of Champions. The Champions League games began in September 2009, the final round took place back in April 2010. Title winner was the defending champion Viborg HK, which celebrated its third Champions League victory of the women.

Mode

Qualification 1 The Qualification 1 will be held in the framework of two tournaments. Two groups of four teams, each team plays once being in a group against any other team. In each group, the first and second place for the second qualification, the outgoing team qualified moves into the second round of the EHF Cup.

Qualification 2 The Qualification 2 will be held in multiple tournaments. Four groups of four teams, each team plays once being in a group against any other team. For each group the best team in the group stage qualify. Retiring twelve teams move into the third round of the EHF Cup.

Group stage There are four groups of four teams. In a group, everyone plays against everyone a return match; the two group best achieve the main round. The third group move into the fourth round of a European Cup Winners' Cup.

Main Round There are two groups of four teams. In a group, everyone plays against everyone a return match; the two group best reach the semifinals.

All-in -lap The semifinals and finals will be played in a knockout system with return game.
