2009–10 GET-ligaen season
The 2009/10 season was the 71st overall by the Norwegian Hockey League and the fourth under the name GET ligaen. Titleholder was Vålerenga Ishockey, however in the final documents to Stavanger Oilers.

Participants and mode
The number of participants was reduced after the pre-season from ten to nine, for which the bankruptcy of IK Comet the main responsibility. This was indeed able to win the playdowns of the season 2008/ 09, was subsequently not been able to secure the operation of gambling and had in October to withdraw from the championship. Furuset Ishockey had lost last year's playdowns and was relegated. In return Manglerud Star had risen in the top flight.
It was played in the regular season a triple return round, giving a total of forty-eight games for each team. The best eight of the nine clubs qualified for the playoffs, which were held in the form of quarterfinals, semifinals and finals in each case as best-of -seven series. The last place of the basic passage came into playdowns against teams from the 1st divisjon.

The matches of the playoff series were determined by a restricted dialing. The best finisher of the base passage was allowed to choose his quarter-final opponents among the clubs on the seventh and eighth. The runner-up between the left and the sixth-placed team, etc. This method was also applied in the semifinals.
