2009–10 KNVB Cup

The KNVB Cup in 2009/10 was the 92nd edition of the Dutch football cup competition. It began on 29 August 2009 with the first round, which was attended only the amateur teams at, and ended with the finals on April 6 and May 25, 2010. Starting in the second round, the professional team of the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie participated.

A total of 88 teams participated in the competition: the 38 representatives of the two professional leagues, 48 amateur teams and two reserve / youth teams of professional clubs. 24 of the amateur representative qualified via the respective season championship Hoofdklasse (highest amateur league at the time ), the other half on the amateur cup competition. In addition to the 39 clubs Hoofdklasse still qualified six teams from the Eerste Klasse and one club from the 5th to the 7th league.

In the final, it came to the Dutch football classics ( De klassieker ) Ajax Amsterdam Feyenoord Rotterdam. Due to the highly feared riots rival supporters of Feyenoord and Ajax KNVB split their short term it in two finals. The first leg in Amsterdam has Ajax 2-0 and the return match in Rotterdam 4-1 to decide for themselves, winning the trophy for the 18th time.

Defending SC Heerenveen was eliminated in the second round against PSV Eindhoven.

All clubs from the professional football went into this round. Teams that were in a European cup competition, could not be drawn against each other. Amateur clubs had home advantage when they were drawn against a professional club.
