2009–10 Liga de Ascenso season

The season 2009/10 was the inaugural season of the Liga de Ascenso, the second new football league in Mexico. First champion of the Primera División in the previous year from relegated Club Necaxa, both the Torneo Apertura 2009 Torneo Bicentenario 2010 and the won and thus was able to secure the return to the first football league in Mexico. There was not a relegated this season, since the league in the 2010/11 season to a team ( Altamira FC ) should be extended to 18 participants. Promoted Necaxa was replaced by the relegated CF Indios.

Prehistory

Liga de Ascenso is the third term for the second football league in Mexico. It was originally introduced as a Segunda División in the season 1950/51 and played under that name until the 1993/94 season. Between 1994/95 and 2008/ 09 joined the newly formed La Liga 'A', with the introduction of the Segunda División, although not ceased to exist, but de facto was demoted to the third- highest division in their place.
