2009–10 NLA season

The 2009/ 10 is the third regular season after the renaming of the former National League A in National League A. The HC Davos is the reigning champion. Since the NLB Champion HC Lausanne failed in the League qualifier at EHC Biel in 2009, the league will begin in 2009 /10 with the same teams as last season. For the 12th time the SC Bern won by 4:3 victories in the playoff final against HC Servette Geneva the Swiss Championship.

Mode

Be played by the 12 teams 2 double rounds of 22 games. There are 6 per team per additional matches against three opponents, which are calculated on the basis of the qualifying table of the previous year. Overall, therefore, denies any team's 50 qualifying matches. After that, the best eight teams in the playoffs determine the champion Swiss style. Quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals are played respectively by the mode best -of-seven.

The other four teams identify in the play- outs that team that has to play in the league against the champions of the National League B.

Play-Offs

In the play-offs came together the best eight teams qualifying. The SC Bern moved with two sweeps over the HC Lugano and the Kloten Flyers in the playoff finals.

Play -out

Both the play- outs, as well as the play-offs are consistently played in the Best of Seven mode.

Round 1

In the first round of the play -outs, the HC Ambri -Piotta and the Rapperswil -Jona Lakers prevailed over their competition and thus secured the league.

Round 2

In the second round of the play -outs, the SCL Tigers put 4-1 victories against by the EHC Biel and thus remain in the National League A. The EHC Biel had in the League qualifier against the NLB champion.

League qualifier

In the Games of the League qualifiers will decide who is allowed to play in the coming season in the National League A. In this case, the loser of the playout, EHC Biel -Bienne was up against the NLB Champion HC Lausanne, enjoying in the best- of-seven series, first the right home. As last year, the EHC Biel won this League qualifiers 4-3 victories against the HC Lausanne. Thus, the team of Biel in the National League A remains while the HC Lausanne is second-rate in the next season.
