2009 African Nations Championship qualification

The 40 African teams were divided into 6 zones to qualify for the African Nations Cup 2009. Each zone there was a place in the African Nations Cup. The only exception was the South Zone, which received two starting places.

Host

The host of the first African Nations Championship was the Ivory Coast. The team therefore qualified automatically for the finals in 2009.
