2009 European Allround Speed Skating Championships

The 105 speed skating all-around European Championship ( 34 women ) was held from 9 to 11 January 2009 at Heerenveen, the Netherlands.

Competition

In the all-around Europe Cup is over four distances. The women run 500, 3,000, 1,500 and 5,000 meters and the men's 500, 5,000, 1,500 and 10,000 meters. Any spilled Single Track Time is downscaled to seconds and added to 500 meters. The sum gives the total number of points. The twelve best women and men by three routes will be allowed for the final distance. Master will, who Walk the lowest total score after four routes.

The Dutchman Koen Verweij rushed over more than 500 meters. The result was the last place in the overall standings ( total score ) after three distances. In the final, the top twelve he could still start. This was made possible by a provision with respect to the second longest route.
