Mode

  • The winners of the World Group play in the semifinals to reach the finals
  • The losers of the first round of the World Group play against the winner of the World Group II first round. The two winners play in the World Group in 2010 and the losers play in the 2010 World Group II
  • The losers of the World Group II first round played against one of the qualifying teams. The latter consisted of two teams of Europa-/Afrika-Zone and each with a team from the Asien-/Ozeanien-Zone and the America zone. The winners play in the 2010 World Group II and the losers in the respective zone.
