Title defenders in individual Rafael Nadal in the men's and Ana Ivanović with the ladies. In the men's doubles were Pablo Cuevas and Luis Horna and in women's doubles Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual were the defending champions. Defender of the Mixed were Wiktoryja Azarenka and Bob Bryan.
In the men's singles first won Roger Federer. He won the final against Robin Soderling, who had previously added four times title holder Nadal his first defeat at Roland Garros. In the women's singles Svetlana Kuznetsova won and celebrated her second Grand Slam singles victory of her career. Lukáš Dlouhy and Leander Paes were the men's doubles, Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual in women's doubles victory. The title in the mixed competition, Liezel Huber and brought defending champions Bob Bryan.
