2009 Heineken Open

The Heineken Open 2009, a tennis tournament, which was held in Auckland from 11 to 18 January 2009. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2009 and was discharged on hard court. In the same week was played in Sydney the Medibank International Sydney, which was one exactly like the Heineken Open to Category ATP World Tour 250.

Defender of the single was Philipp Kohlschreiber, who retired in the quarterfinals. The winner was the top seed Juan Martin del Potro, who in the final against Sam Querrey prevailed and thus celebrated his fifth ATP title. In doubles Luis Horna and Juan Mónaco were the defending champions. The winners Martin Damm and Robert Lindstedt, which were able to celebrate their first ATP title together.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the petition of 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round.
