World cup

The Women's World Cup was held in Hämeenlinna in Finland from 4th to 12th April 2009. The games were held with 5,360 seats and located in the same complex Metritiski - areenalla with 700 seats in the Patria areena.

Mode

As in previous years, nine teams participating in the World Cup. These were first divided into three preliminary groups. The winners of the three preliminary groups A, B and C played in another group (D ), the two finalists from the runners-up in Group E the second participant of the game for 3rd place ( against the third group D ). In the Relegation Group F the third place of the preliminary groups AC play against relegation. The two last placed athlete will be relegated to Division I.

Division I

From 4 to 10 April 2009 took the world championship tournament of Division I in Graz in Austria. Six teams took part. All matches were played at the Ice Stadium Liebenau, which seats 4,050 spectators.

Division II

From 12 to 18 April 2009, the World Cup tournament in the Division II was held in Torre Pellice in Italy. Six teams took part. The games were held in Palaghiaccio Olimpico " Giorgio Cotta Morandini ," which can accommodate 2,440 spectators.

Division III to V

The divisions III to V were not played this year, but were resumed at the next World Cup in 2011 in the program. Due to the change in format of the competition, to the effect that the top division again from 2011 with eight instead of nine teams plays and thus descended in the Top Division and Division I two teams each, while only one rose, rose some teams by 2011 through an automatic Division from.
