2009 International German Open
The International German Open Hamburg 2009, a tennis tournament, which took place in Hamburg from 20 to 26 July 2009. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2009 and was discharged on clay court. In the same week, Indianapolis was the Indianapolis Tennis Championships held in, but that belongs in contrast to the International German Open Hamburg, which belongs to the category ATP World Tour 500, only to Category ATP World Tour 250.
Defender of the single was Rafael Nadal, who did not participate in this year's tournament. In this year's final, the seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko continued against Frenchman Paul -Henri Mathieu in straight sets by. For Davydenko it was this year the first title on the ATP Tour, but his 15th title overall in his career. In doubles, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic won the title last year, but they no longer competed in this year. The finale won Simon Aspelin and Paul Hanley in two sets against Marcelo Melo and Filip Polášek.
The field of the individual competition consisted of 48 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The eight top-seeded player in a single each received a bye into the second round.
