2009 Movistar Open
The Movistar Open 2009 was a tennis tournament, which was held in Viña del Mar from the 2nd to the 8th of February 2009. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2009 and was discharged on clay court. In the same week the SA Tennis Open, and were played in the PBZ Zagreb Zagreb Indoors in Johannesburg, just like the Movistar Open to Category ATP World Tour 250 count.
Defender of the single was Fernando González, who was able to defend his title. In the final he beat Argentina's Jose Acasuso in straight sets. In double José Acasuso and Sebastian Prieto came to defend their title, but already retired in the 1st round. In the final, Pablo Cuevas and Brian Dabul won against Michal Mertiňák and Frantisek Cermak.
The field of the individual competition consisted of 32 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was $ 445,000, the total financial liabilities amounted to $ 496,750.
