2009 Proton Malaysian Open

Proton Malaysian Open 2009, a tennis tournament, which was held in Kuala Lumpur from 28 September to 4 October 2009. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2009 and was discharged on hard court. In the same week the Thailand Open was played in Bangkok, who scored just like the Proton Malaysian Open to Category ATP World Tour 250.

The tournament was not held between 1996 and 2008. This year, Nikolay Davydenko and Fernando Verdasco were compared to the final. The top seed Davydenko won the final in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. After the victories in Hamburg and Umag, this was the third tournament win of the year and 17th career title overall. In the doubles pairing Mariusz Fyrstenberg and the Polish Marcin Matkowski defeated Igor Kunizyn and Jaroslav Levinský in two sets 6:2 and 6:1. For the Polish duo it was the second joint title this year and the tenth joint title overall in her career.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 28 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. The four top-seeded player in a single each received a bye in the first round.
