2009 Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships

The Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships 2009, a tennis tournament, which was held in Tokyo from 5 to 11 October 2009. It was part of the ATP World Tour in 2009 and was discharged on hard court. In the same week the China Open was played in Beijing, which included just like the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships to Category ATP World Tour 500.

Defender of the single was Tomáš Berdych, who was eliminated in the quarter- finals. This year's final Mikhail Youzhny challenged and Jo -Wilfried Tsonga. Tsonga won in straight sets 6:3 and 6:3 and grabbing himself the third title in the current year. In Mikhail Youzhny double and Mischa Zverev were no longer together on to defend their title. In this year's final, the Austrian Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer Dup prevailed in three sets against Ross Hutchins and Jordan Kerr.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 32 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs.
