2009 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships
The 12th World Single Distance Championships were held from 12th to 15th March 2009 at the Canadian Richmond (Richmond Olympic Oval ). The hall was specially built for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and completed in 2008. The Single Distances Championships was the first ISU event in this hall and at the same rehearsal for the upcoming Olympic Games.

Competition
The Single Distances Championships are the last international RACES in the current season. It is about the individual routes to be the fastest. The championship for " specialists", provides:
- For women 2 * 500, 1000, 1500, 3000 and 5000 meters and the team pursuit over 6 rounds
- For Men 2 * 500, 1000, 1500, 5000 and 10000 meters and the team pursuit over 8 rounds

- Position: Specifies the order of the athletes again. This is determined by the number of gold medals. With the same number of silver medals after the bronze medals are compared,
- Name: Lists the name of the athlete
- Country: Denotes the country competed for the athlete
- Gold: Reports the number of gold medals won
- Silver: Reports the number of silver medals won
- Bronze: Reports the number of bronze medals won
- Total: Reports the total number of medals won
