2010–11 DEL season
The DEL 2010/11 season was the 17th season since the founding of the German Ice Hockey League, the highest league in the German Ice Hockey. The main session started on September 3, 2010 the play-offs on 16 March. The final ended 19 April 2011 with the fifth title win for the Polar Bears Berlin.
The league consisted of 14 teams, including the defending champion Hannover Scorpions and the master of the second hockey league EHC Munich. The team from Munich is the first climber of the DEL - history, which managed to qualify in his first season for the play- offs.

Participant
New in the league is the master of the second ice hockey Bundesliga 2009/10 EHC Munich. The Frankfurt Lions have lost their licenses, they stopped the game operation. The Kassel Huskies lead since March 2010 by a Bankruptcy Trustee, as a result, they were excluded from the DEL, withdrawing their license. In contrast, the Huskies went before the court, including through injunctions. The license revocation was confirmed on 24 August 2010 by the Munich Higher Regional Court and annulled the injunctions on 26 August 2010 by the Higher Regional Court of Cologne.
