2010–11 Four Hills Tournament

The 59th Four Hills Tournament 2010/11 is as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup 2010/2011 organized by the FIS between 29 December 2010 and 6 January 2011 series of ski jumping competitions. The overall competition was won by Thomas Morgenstern, an Austrian ski jumper which was successful for the third time in a row after Wolfgang Loitzl (2008/ 09) and Andreas Kofler (2009 /10). Overall, it was the twelfth tour overall victory for Austria.

For the first time a " wind factor " was introduced during the tour, which should make it possible to compensate for changes in wind conditions between individual jumpers.

World Cup and Favorites

Before the Four Hills Tournament seven individual competition had already been completed in the World Cup. The season had started end of November 2010 in Kuusamo and was dominated by Austrian athletes who came to six individual victories. Four times in a row, Thomas Morgenstern was successful twice his teammate and last year's winner Andreas Kofler. At a victory came in the Finn Ville Larinto.

The jump in Oberstdorf was held on December 29, 2010 and received the first one jumping Four Hills Tournament since the introduction of the new wind regime in history.

After the first passage Thomas Morgenstern led to three other Austrians. He successfully defended his first place with Tagesbestweite in the second passage.

On 2 through 31 took part instead of the usual 30 Springer, as Jakub Janda and Janne Ahonen were tied after the first passage on the 5th rank of the Lucky- Loser- rating.

Garmisch -Partenkirchen

Germany HS140 Olympic Hill

Jumping in Garmisch -Partenkirchen took place on 1 January 2011.

The first passage was marked by a strong wind; before the last 20 jumpers almost a half-hour break was inserted. The winner Simon Ammann; Thomas Morgenstern landed in 14th place. Besides Ammann any of his other favorites managed a jump over 125 m, apart from Adam Malysz, who could be greatly improved in the intermediate classification. In addition, the Finn Ville Larinto crashed at 140.5 m.

The second pass was not performed because of the strong wind and evaluated the results of the first round.
