2010 AFC Women's Asian Cup

The finals of the 17th Asian Cup Women ( officially: AFC Women 's Asian Cup 2010 ™ ) was held in the period from 19 to 30 May 2010 in the Chinese city of Chengdu. China was for the second time after 1997 host of the Asian Cup. Eight teams came first in a group stage into two groups and then in the knockout system against each other. In addition to the Asian champions the three Asian participants were identified at the World Cup 2011 in Germany. Asian champions for the first time in Australia, which belongs to the Asian Association since 2006, but had already participated in 1975 and 1979. This was the second time a geographically to Asia belonging Asian champion team. First, this New Zealand succeeded in the first edition of 1975.

Qualification

The qualification for the tournament was held in two phases. The top five teams were set for the finals and did not qualify. These five teams were defending champions North Korea, China, Australia, Japan and South Korea. The other eleven teams played in two qualifying rounds for the remaining three places in the finals.

Mode

In the first qualifying round met in the period of April 25, on 3 May 2009 in Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia), the five weakest teams to each other. The five teams played on the mode each against all three places in the second qualifying round. Jordan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were able to qualify for the second qualifying round. There they met Chinese Taipei, Myanmar, Thailand, Iran, Hong Kong and Vietnam. This round was played in three groups of three teams. Within these groups, has also played against each after each mode. The three group winners qualified for the final tournament.

On 14 July 2009 the competent committee of the AFC awarded at its meeting in Kuala Lumpur the tournament to the People's Republic of China.

The draw took place on 21 November 2009 at the headquarters of the AFC, in Kuala Lumpur, instead.

Due to the defeat in 3rd place match to China for the first time could not qualify for a World Cup.

No one player get more than three goals. When 8:0 between Japan and Myanmar were able to achieve at least one goal six Japanese women, Homare Sawa and Mami Yamaguchi get into this game, 2 goals.
