2010 European Trophy

The European Trophy 2010 was the first edition of the same competition, which was organized by the participating Hockey Club and used for pre-season training. The tournament was held between 11 August and 5 September 2010. The final tournament of the eight best teams took place between the 3rd and 5th September under the name Red Bulls Salute in the Austrian city of Salzburg and Zell am See instead.

At the inaugural tournament was attended by a total of 18 teams from seven European nations. Since the European Trophy is the successor of the Nordic Trophy, the teams were mainly from Scandinavia.

For the juniors in the club the European Trophy Junior Tournament was held in parallel.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, which was held between 11 and 28 August 2010, which were 18 teams in two divisions - divided into nine teams - Capital and Central. They played in a half series of eight games from the placings within the division. Here, every club enjoyed four home advantage. The four highest point totals in each division qualified for the Red Bulls Salute, for which the host EC Red Bull Salzburg was automatically set as one of the eight teams.

The teams first played in the quarterfinals of the participants in the semi-finals from. During the quarter-final loser places 5-8 playing off in the following two days with each other, the winning team determined the tournament winner.

After each of the 84 matches in the competition, the three best players in a game were awarded. The best player of the match was between three points, the second best two and the third best one. The player with the most points at the end of the contest was awarded the European Star Award.
