2010 FIBA World Championship for Women
The 16th World Basketball Championship for Women was held from 23 September to 3 October 2010 in the Czech Republic instead. The choice of the United States became a total 8 -time world champion.
The Central Board of the International Basketball Federation ( FIBA ) awarded the event during its meeting on 10 December 2007 in Chicago to the Czech Republic, having previously had withdrawn their applications which are also candidates associations from Australia, France and Latvia.

Preliminary round
In the preliminary round of four teams playing in four groups against each other. The winner of the match receives two points, the loser one point. If a game at the end of regulation time draw, so there is extra time. The first three teams of these groups will qualify for the next round.

Awards
As a Most Valuable Player (MVP), the Czech Hana Horáková was excellent. Next to her, her compatriot Eva Vítečková and Diana Taurasi (United States), Lyttle Sancho (Spain ) and Yelena Levchenko ( Belarus ) were elected to the All- Star Five.
