2010 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships

The 38th Canoe Sprint World Championships were held from 19 to 22 August 2010 in the Polish city of Poznań, the venue was the Malta Lake. The World Championships were organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). Poses was for the third time host of the Canoe Racing World Championships.

A total of 35 official competitions were held in the disciplines of canoe and kayak. New to the program were the 5000 m race at the One - boats and the C-1 of women over 200 m. After the positive experience from the previous year for the first time competitions were held in Paracanoe as official competitions as part of the Canoe World Championships. In 2009, all of these competitions still demonstration competitions. The seven Paracanoeing regattas attended by 66 disabled athletes from 30 nations. A total of 824 athletes from 75 nations were represented.

The German Canoe Association ( DKV) participated with 33 athletes, including four disabled athletes. The World Championships went well for the German team as a whole. You won twelve medals, including five gold, had to be in the medal but this time behind Hungary in 2nd place classified. On the Olympic distances, the target of the association has not been reached with five won medals.

Paracanoeing

All Paracanoeing competitions were extended over a distance of 200 m. The classification of boat classes took place after movement ability of the legs, arms and trunk. There were regattas are held in seven classes of boat.
