2010 Major League Soccer season
The 15th Major League Soccer season began with the regular season on March 25, 2010 and ended with the MLS Cup 2010 on November 21, 2010., The final was played at BMO Field in Toronto, which the Colorado Rapids decided for themselves could. All results since the founding of the MLS can be found in the Eternal table the MLS. The first game of the season was held at Qwest Field in Seattle between Seattle Sounders FC and Philadelphia Union. The Sounders won 2-0.
During the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2010, no games will be played.

Innovations
- The players' union and the MLS agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement, which affects the contracts of the players.
- The franchise Philadelphia Union is the 16th team in Major League Soccer ( Eastern Conference ) on the operation of gambling.
- The New York Red Bulls move into the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.
- The Designated Player Rule was revised and introduced new rules.
Coaching change
- Piotr Nowak is the first coach of Philadelphia Union.
- Hans Backe takes over as coach for the New York Red Bulls. The previous interim coach Richie Williams takes over again the post of assistant coach.
- Predrag Radosavljević became the new coach of Toronto FC. The current head coach Chris Cummins had not signed a new contract. On September 14, 2010 Preki was replaced by the Canadian Nick Dasovic.
- Curt Onalfo took over on 28 December 2009, the coach of DC United. After eight months, he was fired because of poor performance of his team. Since August 4, 2010, the team from Washington is run by the former National Player of the USA Ben Olsen as an interim solution.
- Beginning of 2010, Denis Hamlett was dismissed at the Chicago Fire SC. New coach Carlos de los Cobos.

Competition format
The 16 teams will play first in the regular season ( regular season ) twice each against each other. Thus, each team completed a total of 30 games. The top 8 teams, but at least 2 each Conference qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs. The team with the most points in the regular season won the MLS Supporters' Shield.
MLS Cup Playoffs
The playoff pairings will be determined based on the rankings in the conference tables. Qualify more than four teams in each Conference for the playoff, the balance of teams change remaining free spaces in a playoff tree, other conference. The quarter-finals ( Conference semifinals ) is discharged through two games, the semifinals (Conference Finals ) and the finale in a game. The away goals rule is not applied.
International Qualifications
The best team in the regular season and the winner of MLS Cup will qualify directly for the CONCACAF Champions League. The losing finalist and U.S. Open Cup winners qualify for the qualifying round of the Champions League. The top four teams that do not participate in the CONCACAF Champions League will qualify for the Super League.
Toronto FC can not qualify via the MLS for the Champions League as a Canadian team. This just goes on Canadian Championship.
U.S. Open Cup
Top 6 U.S. teams in the regular season to qualify directly for the knockout stages of next year's U.S. Open Cup. The remaining teams play in a MLS internal qualification tournament ( knockout ) system, two further courses from in the second round.
Toronto FC can be as a Canadian team did not qualify for the U.S. Open Cup and is not eligible for this tournament.

Besides the two best teams in each conference will qualify four teams with the next highest scores for the playoffs.

As of October 26, 2010 Source: mlssoccer.com 1Toronto FC can not qualify for the U.S. Open Cup, since the club comes from Canada. If the team concludes the season on a qualifying place for the U.S. Open Cup, and this number is automatically assigned to the next highest team. The same is true for a qualifying place for the CONCACAF Champions League. Also in this case qualifies, Toronto should get a qualification place, the next higher team. Toronto FC can qualify for this competition just across the Canadian Championship.

MLS All -Star Game
The 15th MLS All -Star Game took place on July 28 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Opponents were Manchester United from the English Premier League, could win the game 5-2. The goals for the All-Star team made Brian Ching and Dwayne De Rosario. For the game player Federico Macheda from Manchester United has been appointed.
On 27 July 2009 Commissioner Don Carber Houston was announced as the site by the MLS. This was due to the large Fußballfanbasis in Houston and the organization's success by Houston Dynamo.
The levy of the MLS All -Star team were among others Landon Donovan, Dwayne De Rosario and Chad Marshall. Was supervised the selection of Bruce Arena.
